At the end of the 2021 Season, the Oakleigh District Football Netball Cricket Club made the decision to transfer across to the Eastern Football Netball League for a fresh start and to join a league that can assist the club we starting a recruitment process to assist in gathering junior footballers to our club.
The Eastern Football Netball League journey began at the commencement of 2022 and the club were placed in the second division of the league. Unfortunately though, the club's first year in the EFNL did not go to plan as the club copped an array of bad results on-field, things off-field though were still extremely strong with a Past Player's Day holding over 120 members at a function and the engagement frOM previous players and members was nothing but positive and the club looks forward to building on this in 2023.
In August 2022, ODFNC appointed VFL Premiership Player and two-time EFNL Chandler Medallist Blake Pearson as Senior Coach for 2023 and beyond. Blake's brother Ryan has been involved at the club for many years now and assisted in the appointment process.
Season 2023 was a success for the football sides as our Reserves won several times and just missed out on the finals, and our Seniors took part in their first finals campaign since 2016 and our first in the EFNL. We made it to the Preliminary Final going down to Ferntree Gully by 18 points.
However, we now look forward to 2024 with a lot of confidence that we can go that step further and hopefully go for glory. We began pre-season in mid-November and have recruited a number of different players from across Australia to give us the best chance at the ultimate glory in 2024.
